Second Anniversaries of the Heart

Long time, no post.  I have not been very good with posting.  My excuse is that it has been very windy here and has prohibited me from taking pictures outdoors.  Watching my stitching blow across the yard causes my heart to go into overdrive!!!  I have tried using my camera with the flash, but if yellows the needlework.  Not very pretty.  I ended up taking this picture in my bathroom where my only westward facing window is located.  I finally finished up the second Anniversaries of the Heart  piece called "Valentine Rose."

When I was doing my Friday Hoffman check on the web yesterday, I saw the third installment of "Anniversaries of the Heart" is now available.  I can't wait until my local LNS gets it in!

Yesterday in the mailbox, I received my first two blocks of "The Civil War Bride" BOM (Block of the Month for you non-quilters) from Common Threads Quilting.

They did an excellent job of labeling each fabric with a number that corresponds to the same number on the applique pattern.  My past BOM's have not been labeled this way.  Usually, I have to look at the photograph of the block to determine where each fabric goes.  Sometimes this can be a problem if there are similar fabrics in a block that are hard to tell apart in the photograph.

Tonight, I am off to finish organizing my stitching room.  Let's hope I get 'er done!!!

Picture Taking

I tried to take some pictures of Blackbird Designs Anniversaries of the Heart WIP along with some of my finished pieces today.  From reading others' blogs, I decided to take the pictures outside in the natural light.  The only problem was the wind!!!  I laid a towel on my patio table to keep my needlework from getting dirty.  I had to take lots of pictures because just as I would take the picture the wind would blow the towel and needlework askew and once or twice into the grass.  I tried to use my free hand to keep everything in place.  Here is the picture I took of my WIP....

My goal for my next post is to put some of the blogs I follow on the side column and to open a Flickr account to make stitching albums.  Until then....

First Post!!!

Well, I have thought about starting a blog for quite awhile.  I was hesitant because I can be technologically challenged at times.  Hopefully, as time goes by, my blog will be up to par with all the wonderful blogs out in blogland.  Cross stitch will be my main focus in my posts.  I will try to expand to other things as I become more comfortable blogging.  I will try to take a picture and load it tomorrow, but I am stitching Blackbird Designs Anniversaries of the Heart series all on one piece of fabric.  I am about 2/3's of the way through the Valentine Rose which is the second chart in the series.  Speaking of taking a picture, I also need to learn to take better photos.  I have a point and shoot and hope to learn to take better pics with it.  American Idol and my stitching call...so goodbye for now.
